About Us
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputies Association (HCSDA) is a professional collective bargaining unit of more than 270 sworn Deputy Sheriffs, Crime Scene Investigators, and Detectives of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. The HCSDA deals on matters of hours, wages, and working conditions related to member’s employment. The HCSDA is fully supported by membership dues and community donations. We are a non-profit organization and every board member is elected through a membership majority vote.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is the largest Sheriff’s Office in the State of Minnesota. The county consists of 1.3 million people in 611 square miles. We have 280 miles of lakes and waterways, 45 cities, 1 township, 1 unorganized territory, and 36 law enforcement agencies.
The HCSDA provides representation to the members in the areas of officer safety, on-duty injuries, communications, grievances, discipline appeals, and work problems. The Executive Board also functions as Stewards when enforcing the provisions of the Agreement between the County of Hennepin and the Association. The Executive Board Members devote many personal hours to the members of the HCSDA in trying to obtain the best possible salary and benefits.
The members of the HCSDA work together and with the community to reduce crime, bring justice to victims, and protect the public from criminals. We do so with the various divisions of the Sheriff’s Office, such as the Enforcement Services Bureau, which consists of the Communications Division; Information Technology Services; and the Enforcement Services Division which includes the Patrol Unit, Special Operations Unit (which oversees the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), Homeland Security Unit, and the Emergency Services Unit (ESU)), Transport Unit, Warrant Unit, and the Water Patrol Unit.
The Detention/Court Services Bureau consists of the Adult Detention Division and the Court Services Division, including the Civil and Court Security Unit.
The Investigations Bureau consists of Investigative Division, which includes the Detective Unit, the Narcotics Unit (Local and Federal Task Forces); the Violent Crime Initiative Division which consists of the Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) and the Criminal Information Sharing & Analysis (CISA) Unit; and the Forensic Sciences Division which includes the Crime Scene Unit and the Crime Laboratory Unit.
The Administrative Services Bureau consists of the Administrative Unit, the Internal Affairs Unit, the Community Services Unit, and the Professional Standards Division (PSD), which includes the Personnel Unit and the Employee Development Unit.
The men and women of the HCSDA are dedicated to these tasks, and this website is dedicated to them. This website is presented to them as a means of communication and a resource to more effectively provide these services to the communities in which they serve.
The Executive Board Members serve in various organizations, including the Minnesota Police & Peace Officers Association (MPPOA), the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), and the Police Officers Alliance of Minnesota (POAM). They are proud to represent the Deputy Sheriff’s of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and will continue to provide the highest quality and effective representation to our members.
